Based in Los Angeles, California, the Los Angeles Kings plays in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference.The Los Angeles Kings were impressive as they made finished their first season in second place and also reached the playoffs. The following season, the Kings again reached the playoffs but this time they were defeated by the Blues in the second round. After first two impressive seasons, the Los Angeles Kings magic began to fade. The Kings struggled and could not make it to the playoffs for the next four seasons.

The Kings began to revive in the 1972-73 season and went on to make few playoff appearances but were not able to win any NHL or Conference championship. The Kings kept struggling at the first round of the playoffs and were never able to advance beyond that until 1982. In 1982, the Los Angeles Kings managed to climb up to the Division finals but only to lose to the Canucks.

The Kings remained mediocre in the decade of the 1980’s and made to the playoffs almost every season. Season 1992-93 was remarkable for the Kings, they won the Division finals against the Canucks and advanced to their first ever Conference finals. The Western Conference final was against the Maple Leafs but this time the Kings were unstoppable, they swept away the Maple Leafs to make their way to the Stanley Cup finals, in the finals the Kings were defeated by the Canadiens. So far, that was their only trip to the championship finals and Kings are still due to make a mark.
