Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; the Pittsburgh Steelers play in the AFC North. The franchise was founded in 1933 and considered to be the oldest club in American Football Conference. Also, Steelers have claimed the Super Bowl title five times. The Steelers were not much successful in their early years and it took them as many as 14 years to make their first ever playoff appearance in 1947.
After 1947, the Pittsburgh Steelers again entered into their longest playoff draught and this time it took them 25 years to return to the playoffs. Many believed that the team’s luck changed with the arrival of the coach, Chuck Noll. After suffering playoff draught for 25 years, the Steelers returned in style, making it to playoffs for eight years in a row. They also advanced past to the Super Bowl on four occasions but could not claim any NFL championship. Since then, the Steelers are a regular contender at playoffs. The much awaited season came in 2005; the Pittsburgh Steelers won the Conference championship and advanced to the Super Bowl XL against the Seahawks. They defeated the Seahawks, 21-10, to clinch their first ever NFL championship. |
